Redesigning roommate flows to resolve six usability issues.

Roomi

A roommate coordination app that brings chat, tasks, calendars, notifications, and profiles into one high-fidelity prototype. I translated the team’s research into the interface and revised the flows after usability testing.

01 / Background & problem

Support the everyday coordination of living together.

Roomi focused on how roommates coordinate shared life: conversations, tasks, events, and updates. Our five-person team gathered four user interviews, developed three personas, and defined seven requirements to guide the app.

My role was to translate that research into a high-fidelity Figma prototype. The scope covered chat, tasks, calendar, notifications, and profile screens, connecting the team’s requirements to the actions roommates would take in the interface.

02 / Design decisions & execution

Use testing issues to choose what to redesign.

I designed the high-fidelity prototype around the team’s four interviews, three personas, and seven requirements. Usability testing then identified six issues, including two high-priority issues, giving the redesign a concrete set of problems to address.

I revised the affected flows rather than treating the feedback only as visual polish. One change was tap-to-create calendar events, connecting event creation directly to the calendar interaction. I carried the issue list into the final version so the revisions could be traced back to the findings.

03 / Results & reflection

Resolve all six issues in the final prototype.

The final version addressed all six usability issues, including the two high-priority issues. The deliverable was a high-fidelity Figma prototype for roommate coordination, with revised interactions across the tested flows.

This project helped me connect research, requirements, and interface decisions. It also gave me a concrete way to evaluate my design work: identify the usability issue, revise the interaction, and show how the final flow responds to it.
